Practice Xylo (PX)

1 hard plastic ball with a 2g weight inside covered with a firm rubber tubing. Unlike many solid rubber practice sticks, this stick is very close in weight to most standard hard xylo sticks and has a more authentic rebound off the barnot too dead, not too bouncy. It also has a much better response in the highest octave, so you can actually hear pitches when you practice Messiaen. Quiet enough to use on stage and not upset the second violins but loud enough that you can still hear yourself above the din of others warming up. Also great on temple blocks and log drums.

Same design as the fiberglass Celeste stick but with a heavier core (same core as 1BR). Warm, yet clear, the rubber layer takes the edge off the hard phenolic surface of the core. Great for tons of playing where blend and warmth are the goalWaldweben, Sleeping Beauty, La Mer, etc. Really gives your glock a celeste-like sound. This also makes an excellent xylo stick dark and slightly two-toned. Try it on the soft trill excerpt from Medea.
