"Who do you think you are?" a political stand-up romance for solo female voice.

Threats are not protected by freedom of speech, so why are they allowed to flourish within the realm of the internet or other forms of communication? Psycological and physical threats have become a serious problem for many women participating in public debate. When threats of violence, rape and death prevent women?s right to freedom of speech and when the need to protect themselves and their families reduces their ability to take part in public debate, without repercussion, then our society has a democratic problem.

The piece consists of different texts:

- Male sexual harassments and threats of physical assaults like rape and murder. These texts are found on the internet.
- Excerpts from the Constitution of the Kingdom of Norway, article 100:
'There shall be freedom of expression.'
'It is the responsibility of the authorities of the State to create conditions that facilitate open and enlightened public discourse.'
- A spoken text questioning and criticizing the verbal sexual harassment and threats of violence, rape and murder against women on the internet.

The piece is written for solo soprano, but may be transposed to a lower range so that it also can be sung by solo alto and solo mezzo-soprano voices.
Duration: approx. 7 - 8 minutes

"Who do you think you are?" was commissioned for Eir Inderhaug by Oslo Griegfestival - 2014 with support from Fritt Ord and Det Norske Komponistfond.
