Duet for Marimba and Vibraphone
The premiere performance was played by Ivana Kuljeric Bilic and the author on December 5, 2015, in the Auditorium Stefanini, Treviso, Italy
Thanks to professor Stefania Redaelli for working on 'Vasse Zante' inside her Chamber Music class in the Vicenza Music Conservatorium, Italy, with students Daniele Daldoss and Rossano Muzzupapa (their performance on youtube)
The music of Saverio Tasca is ethereal and nostalgic, its structure simple and complex at the same time, with fine rhythmic textures. The piece Vasse Zante feels like a 'Midsummer nights dream'. Soft bubbles in the air floating, with images of fairies and little 'gargouilles' popping out, dancing and singing.
The piece ends as it has started, the bubbles slowly disappearing Melodic lines are following freshand occasionally bold harmonic pro- gressions, while the constant moving of notes brings interesting patterns,creating a natural and elegant musical flow. The sonorities of vibraphone and marimba are nicely blended, giving each other space for short solos.
