TO BOLDLY GOPeter GrahamScore and Parts To Boldly Go was commissioned by the Melbourne Staff Band of the Salvation Army, Bandmaster Ken Waterworth, in celebration of the band's 125th Anniversary in 2015.Ken Waterworth requested that the new work echo the flavour and style of the composers' earlier Shine as the Light; accordingly this new work gives special prominence to well-established Salvationist songs, in this case I'll go in the strength of the Lord (Turney and Bosanko) and I'll not turn back (Gowans and Larsson).As the band celebrated and refected upon the past 125 years of service, the message of the songs serves as a reminder of the continuing journey and mission of the Melbourne Staff Band in the 21st century

The Debutante, March, Per Olav Paulsen - Brass bandEin svært lett marsj som passer godt for ""ferske"" skulekorps (Junior Brass Band). Marsjen er først og fremst skriven med tanke på dei yngste i korpse, - debutantane! Krava til teknikk og omfang i stemmene er såleis begrensa, men med nokre få unntak i såkalla ""leiande"" stemmer. Marsjen er skriven i 1993,men er revidert i april-2010. Utgåva er med full score partitur samt stemmer i så vel  konsertformat(A4) som marsjformat (A5).  

Lokk - a Norwegian Overture, Per Olav Paulsen - Brass bandLokk er ein konsertoverture for brass band i norsk stil. Etter ei rolig innleiing med bruk av imitasjon (ekko) går stykket over i ein rask hoveddel. Hovedtemaet bygger på ein kulokk frå Valdres, noko som hr gitt direkt inspirasjon til tittelen. Lokk er ellers ein av vokalformene i norsk folkemusikk.I den rolige, kotrasterende mellomdelen nyttar eg tema frå ein annen norsk folketone, Astrid mi Astrid. Overturen får med det ein A-B-A form etter mønsteret hurtig - langsom - hurtig.Lokk vart skriven i 1987, men er revidert i 8.

ORIGINAL LOUIS MAGGIO SYSTEM FOR BRASSNever before had the brass world been affected so strongly by any one man than by the now legendary Louis Maggio. Living in the days when communications were slow and the development of the brass instrument was in its formative years, the array of professional results he left behind are a great tribute to his genius. Maggios master instructions were not merely the product of some brilliant superbrain, but grew out of a tragic accident that changed his entire life.Having left his native italy in 1906, he was appearing with the St. Paul Symphony when disaster struck in 1919. In subzero weather, while running to catch a streetcar, Louie slipped on the icy pavement and fell, striking his mouth on a safety zone button. The force of the blow literally shredded his lips and knocked out several front teeth. The medical profession could not help and his career was obviously over.Although despondent, Louie persued the challenge and for the next year counseled himself, conceiving and developing a totally new concept of brass playing. To the amazement of his colleagues, the system Maggio had created not only enabled him to return to his chair with the symphony, but he was playing better than ever. He had acquired a register unheard of in those days (five octaves) and he now displayed a rich, velvet tone throughout all registers. Word of Maggios accomplishment gradually spread throughout the world of music, and beleaguered brass musicians began to seek his help with their individual problems.In 1930, Maggio settled in Los Angeles to spend his full time teaching, and eventually to establish an international reputation as the acclaimed master brass instructor. Presented here is the Original Louis Maggio System For Brass the very same system he developed after his accident. The book is thorough (140 pages) and contains exercises ranging from embouchure and mouthpiece position to playing the extreme high register.
