Klezmer is the traditional music for weddings and celebrations of the Yiddish-speaking Jews of Eastern Europe. Its origin goes back to the sixteenth century. Klezmer was played by the klezmorim, travelling Jewish musicians who picked up something from local music culture wherever they went. Thus klezmer became a melting pot of various music styles.
