The unique Larsen sound.
The ORIGINAL series brings the unmistakably full, projective Larsen sound to your violin, viola or cello. For the development of these strings, the Danish high-end manufacturer took a lot of time and constantly communicated with musicians from all over the world to discover the soul of their instrument.
Original Violin
Warm yet direct and unagitated feel with quickly achieved tuning stability and tonal consistency. Ideal for the bright to neutral sounding instrument that needs a little extra warmth.
The E string is made of carbon steel and comes with ball or loop end. The A, D and G strings are made of a multifilament nylon core, with A and D wound with precision-rolled aluminium flat wire and the G string with pure silver.
The range is completed with the option of a gold-plated E string, a violin II A with steel core and a D string wound with pure silver.
Available in medium and heavy tension as single strings.
Original Viola
Almost the standard choice for the ideal viola outfit.
Versatility and projection combined with long-lasting and consistent performance. Medium gives a beautiful, mellow sound, while Strong offers brilliance and power.
A-string with solid steel core and precision-rolled stainless steel flat wire wound. The C, G and D strings are made of a multifilament nylon core, with C and G wound with precision-rolled silver flat wire and the D string with aluminium.
Original Cello
The Original Cello series is based on a solid steel core and is complemented by an E string wound with precision-rolled aluminium. The wound A and D strings are made of a special precision-rolled stainless steel flat wire, while the G and C strings are made of tungsten.
All four standard strings are offered in Soft, Medium and Strong tensions, with the additional E string in Medium.
"I need a cello A-string. Can you help me?"
The answer to this question was anything but simple, but ultimately the request among friends led to the founding of Larsen Strings.
The first Larsen Cello A was wound by company founder Laurits Th. Larsen in the family garage, but the company and the string family began to grow.
At the same time, the realisation grew that while some of the best things happen by accident, they only become truly remarkable through our design.
Larsen were the first to put a stop to the constant drive for more volume and loudness by increasing string tension. Larsen's development of completely new materials, coupled with high-precision manufacturing techniques, but always significantly lower tension, has brought the young company the highest level of attention and success worldwide.
Larsen Strings develops and produces strings of the highest musical quality in Sønderborg, Denmark.
