Larsen Strings for Viola

  • Made in Europe
  • D, multifilament fiber nylon core, aluminum flat wire wound
  • Tension medium 4.9kg/10.8lbs, strong 5.6kg/12.3lbs

The Larsen VIRTUOSO series has been designed to optimise time-honoured qualities with contemporary, novel technologies, the latter in the form of a groundbreaking multifilament synthetic core.

Virtuoso Violin is available in two tensions. While the Medium strings are characterised by exceptional string response, playability and sound modulation ability, the Strong version is more focused in sound, more "soloistic" and has a higher resistance to the bow.
The E string is made of a unique carbon steel, while A, D and G are based on the aforementioned multifilament synthetic core.
The winding of the A-string is made of precision-rolled aluminium flat wire, while that of the D and G strings is made of pure silver.

Virtuoso Viola Old with new. The original Larsen A-string is almost standard for viola players. That is why it has been retained for the Virtuoso series and supplemented with newly developed D, G and C strings.
While the original viola A-string consists of the familiar steel core with precision-wound stainless steel flat wire winding, the new multifilament core that defines the Virtuoso series was used for the other strings. They are wound with pure silver.
Available as single strings or as sets in Medium (rich sound texture), Medium Extra Long (longer scale length) and Soloist (more focus and volume).'

"I need a cello A-string. Can you help me?"
The answer to this question was anything but simple, but ultimately the request among friends led to the founding of Larsen Strings.
The first Larsen Cello A was wound by company founder Laurits Th. Larsen in the family garage, but the company and the string family began to grow.
At the same time, the realisation grew that while some of the best things happen by accident, they only become truly remarkable through our design.

Larsen were the first to put a stop to the constant drive for more volume and loudness by increasing string tension. Larsen's development of completely new materials, coupled with high-precision manufacturing techniques, but always significantly lower tension, has brought the young company the highest level of attention and success worldwide.

Larsen Strings develops and produces strings of the highest musical quality in Sønderborg, Denmark.
