"All Night Vigil" er et verk i 15 satser for uakkompagnert kor som Sergei Rachmaninov komponerte i januar og februar 1915. Verket var et av de som Rachmaninov selv var aller mest fornøyd med, og det har også blitt kalt den russisk ortodokse kirkens musikalske mesterverk.
"Bogoroditse Devo" er sats nummer 6, og teksten er:
"Hill deg, Maria, full av nåde,
Herren er med deg, velsignet er du iblant kvinner,
og velsignet er ditt livs frukt, Jesus."
Forslag til fremføring:
Flygelhorn, solohorn, 1. baryton og 1. eufonium står i starten og spiller kvartetten fram til opptakt til A, gjerne plassert et stykke vekk fra korpset. De resterende musikantene synger fra kornoten.
På A-partiet går baryton og eufonium tilbake til plassene sine, mens flygelhorn og solohorn blir stående til de er ferdige med bokstav B.
JOHN PHILIP HANNEVIK
John Philip Hannevik ble født i Tromsø i 1970. Han er utdannet sosionom, og har også hovedfag i musikkvitenskap fra Universitetet i Oslo.
Philip arbeider på heltid som dirigent, arrangør og utøver. Han har dirigert brassband, janitsjarkorps og symfoniorkestre på toppnivå i Norge, og han har arrangert og dirigert for noen av Norges fremste artister, slik som Sissel Kyrkjebø, Rein Alexander, Halvdan Sivertsen, Lars Martin Myhre og Bjørn Eidsvåg. Han har deltatt som arrangør og musiker på en rekke CD-innspillinger, flere av disse har solgt til platina. Philip var finalist ved EBBAs internasjonale dirigentkonkurranse 2003, og han har reist som dirigent i en rekke land i Europa, Afrika, Nord- og Sør-Amerika. Philip har blant annet skrevet arrangementet til "Mitt hjerte er ditt" med artisten Hilde Heltberg, en sang som lå 9 uker på første plass på NRK Norsktoppen.

The All Night Vigil is an a-cappella composition that Sergei Rachmaninov composed in January/ February 1015. It was one of Rachmaninoff's favorite among his own compositions, and it has also been called "the greatest musical achievement of the Russian Orthodox Church".
"Bogoroditse Devo" is movement number 6, and the lyrics are:
Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee;
blessed art thou amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Performance suggestion:
The four players in the initial quartet stand, preferably some distance away from the full band. The remaining band members can sing from the "choir" sheet. At letter A, the euphonium and baritone can return to their seats, the flugel horn and solo horn can remain standing until letter C.
JOHN PHILIP HANNEVIK
John Philip Hannevik was born in Tromsø, Norway, in January 1970.He holds a Master degree in Musicology, and has a Bachelor degree in social work.
Philip has been working as a full time musician throughout much of his adult life, among other things as a musical advisor for the Salvation Army. He has conducted all possible types of ensembles, he has written music for classical artists, brass bands, pop- and contemporary singers/ bands, and for TV. He is a prize-winner from EBBAs International Conductors Competition. As a musician he has toured Africa, North- and South America, visited approximately 15 countries in Europe, and has conducted ensembles in many of the finest Concert Halls and studios in Scandinavia. He has worked with several of the top conductors, soloists and bands within the band movement. He has also participated as a musician or arranger on several platinum-awarded CD's. He has even written a full brass arrangement for a contemporary singer the song held the no 1 spot on the charts of Norways biggest National Radio station for 9 weeks.
